Program Discontinuance Clarifications


Dear students and colleagues,

In response to a number of inquiries, we want to clarify that the Program Discontinuance request for the Undergraduate Certificate in Holocaust and Genocide Studies (Jewish Studies) has been brought to the Academic Policies and Procedures committee by the Jewish Studies Program (CLAS) in accordance with USRR Article VIII on Program Discontinuance. As we understand, the program moved forward with this request due to low enrollments in the certificate, in order to maximize enrollments in their other major and minor degrees.

In addition to the hearing information, we have now uploaded the formal discontinuance request on our website, if you would like additional information.

In keeping with the University Senate Rules and Regulations we are holding a public hearing to receive input from community members before finalizing the committee decision. The information for the public hearing follows below, and the hearing will also be livestreamed:
