About

The Office of University Governance provides staff support to the presidents of the University Senate and the Faculty Senate and their respective executive committees. This office coordinates and facilitates the passage of amendments to the University Senate Code, the University Senate Rules and Regulations, and the Faculty Senate Rules and Regulations through the governance legislative process until approval by the University or Faculty Senate, Provost and the Chancellor.

KU governance operates on a committee system under which issues are referred to one of several standing committees of the University Senate (9 committees) or Faculty Senate (6 committees). Each spring the University Governance Office distributes a Committee Preference Form on which faculty indicate their interest in serving on specific governance committees. FacEx is responsible for appointing faculty to all committees and for writing charges for the Faculty Senate committees. SenEx writes charges for University Senate committees.  The Student Senate and Staff Senate appoint or nominate representatives of their respective groups to serve as voting or ex-officio members of governance committees. (Charges to all committees are listed on Governance's website at http://www.governance.ku.edu/all-committees)

University Senate Open Forum

To: Faculty, Staff and Students

Re: Open Forum, 6 December 2018

The University Senate will hold an Open Forum next Thursday, 6 December 2018, 3-5 pm, in Room 1154 of the Integrated Science Building to discuss the university budget cuts and any related concerns affecting faculty, staff, and students. The general intent is to hear from university constituents who have not had the opportunity to share their questions and concerns. Senate officers and representatives will be in attendance, but the forum will maximize commentary from the floor as we seek additional input from the university community.  Questions may also be sent to: Questions/Comments.

When: December 6, 2018, 3:00pm – 5:00 pm
Where: Integrated Science Building, Room 1154 (map)

The forum will be livestreamed via ZOOM technology https://governance.ku.edu/zoom20181206 and ASL interpretation will be provided on-site.  A recap of the meeting, questions asked, and answers given will be subsequently posted on the Governance website.

Respectfully,

Ruben Flores
