The Staff Senate Technology Committee is looking at the governing groups and technology committees at KU. There was discussion regarding the Generative AI Task Force Committee and Enterprise Systems leadership group. There aren’t many staff members or governance representatives, and the Technology Committee wanted to bring forward to SenEx for discussion.
A question arose regarding graduate student representation, as graduate students need to start adapting to research ethics and using AI, and consider privacy implications of using AI tools.
The AI Task Force has changed to the AI Privacy and Risk Council. There are a few faculty members from both campuses along with chief officers. This group may not be setting policy, but it may be helpful to get additional information.
There was brief discussion surrounding textbooks and finding additional options for possible textbook adoptions.
Meeting adjourned.
