Reports—
Faculty Senate Report
Misty reported that the semester has been going well. Misty asked Brendan if he could attend the September KBOR meeting.
University Senate Report
Poppy reported on the following. We are starting to compile a search committee for the Ombuds search. We are waiting for more competency-based education changes for the University Senate Code. KBOR will visit campus in October and SenEx has asked to be on the agenda.
New Business —
KBOR Workload Policy. KBOR has suggested edits to some on their policies regarding workloads. They have reached out to the faculty senate presidents to get feedback from faculty to make recommendations to the proposed edits. This is on a short timeline due to KBOR’s need to move on this. The suggested edits were sent with the meeting notification. The workload policy was screenshared. There was a discussion on the documents and recommendations were made. FacEx members reviewed and made recommendations for the other documents from KBOR.
Optional Campus Fees. The Policy Office asked for feedback from the Faculty Senate President. The proposed revised policy was screenshared. No comments were shared. Misty asked for any feedback to be sent to her.
Najarian Peters reported attending the Union meeting. Her takeaway from the meeting was that the Union was upset. They were upset with the lack of response from the University regarding wages.
Another comment was that the University has proposed a wage structure. All these proposals can be found on the UAKU website. A discussion followed on salaries at KU.
Meeting adjourned.
