Reports

Faculty Senate Report

Reporter: Victor Gonzalez (Faculty Senate President)

KBOR Award—the deadline was extended to April 26.

University Senate Report

Reporter: Josh Arpin (University Senate President-Elect)

Josh reported on the committee chairs for University Senate. We hope to get current chairs to chair again next year. Also, we would like Chair-elects for committees. There are vice chairs for students for some of these committees. Another goal is to get students interested in applying to vice chair these committees. These student members do not have to be on Student Senate. The SenEx Gathering is next week. We have heard some interest on AI policy on campus. Josh plans to reach out to CTE. This could be an agenda item for next year. The School of Social Welfare is looking to file an exemption to the Excused Absence Policy. We do not have any more details. We are not sure what an exemption would look like. The Deans are talking about this issue. If there is a push against the policy is this a request to revert to the original?

New Business

FSRR 2.5.2.  Technical edit to the FSRR. The HLC is no longer referred to as a regional institution. The language in the code needs to be updated to align with this. The suggestion is to replace the word “regional” with “institutional”.

Russ Ostermann made a motion to accept the technical change for FSR 2.5.2.  Hashim Raza seconded the motion. None opposed. Motion approved by acclamation.

Victor mentioned that in the next academic year we can expect several changes to the FSRR and USRR due to competency-based education.

Discussion on Centralized Syllabi Repository. Syllabi can be uploaded to the website. Comments were that instructions for syllabi come out just before the semester starts, and instructors need to update their syllabi. Short-term this is not an issue, but long-term we will have to see.

Meeting adjourned.
