Reports—
Faculty Senate Report
Sam reported the following.
- Sam asked for clarification on the Chancellor’s message about the financial state. The Chancellor’s Office replied that Sam has asked for more info. More to come on this.
- Protected classes. They need to take out a mention of protected class in grants.
- Sam has been doing research.
- DEI cannot be listed in job announcements anymore. There was a discussion on what will be asked to do about DEI. The direction of instruction seems to be coming from the Provost to Deans and Directors. We can focus on this area.
- Attended first of business dean search lunches.
- Met with future faculty rights board chair once the CODE changes.
University Senate Report
Josh reported the following:
- Grade replacement and grading policies up for a vote this week.
- The Student Senate is creating a tile for resources.
- Josh met with two reporters from UDK about the Gateway District letter.
- The University Senate meeting guest speakers will present resources for students.
Unfinished Business —
KBOR approved raises for campus.
New Business —
KBOR Award. Three awards are proposed for this year including the new award for non-tenured. Poppy motioned to approve. Brendan seconded. Approved. This will go to the Faculty Senate for final approval.
April 10 is the last meeting any voting can be done. Then, it is the transitional meeting. Is there anything for the agenda that we need to vote on? Sam shared a resolution from the Faculty Senate in Virigina. Sam shared something from the University Senate in Rutgers calling on their administration to join with other institutions in a mutual defense for legal defense.
We could make a statement in solidarity with students. ISSS sent a message to all international students that they are checking Visa issues and there have been no problems yet. The theme is a resolution in support of the international community at KU.
Brendan made a motion to move to a closed session to discuss a personnel issue on the Faculty Senate. Poppy seconded. Moved to closed session.
Meeting adjourned.
