REVISED: Proposed Update: Open Access Policy (7-day Notice)
Dear Faculty,
The University Senate Libraries Committee submitted revisions to the Open Access Policy. This policy is reviewed every three years and was last reviewed in 2017.
This is a revised message to the message sent to Faculty on Sept. 7. Please note the Open Access Policy will now be discussed and possibly voted on at the Oct. 12 Faculty Senate Meeting. We are notifying faculty again and sending a new document, which shows the Libraries Committee’s recommendations of changes (see attachments-pdf or Word) to the existing policy. It will not be discussed at the Sept. 14 Faculty Senate Meeting.
The Faculty Executive Committee reviewed the recommendations on April 25. The Faculty Senate will discuss this at the Oct. 12 Faculty Senate Meeting at 3:15 pm meeting on Zoom. At that point, under University Senate Code, Article 1.8.2 (f), a motion may be made to suspend the provision requiring the senate to discuss code changes in one meeting and take a vote at a subsequent meeting. If such a motion is made and passes by a 2/3 majority, a vote on this amendment may occur at the Oct. 12, 2023 meeting.
