Approval of Previous Minutes —

Meeting minutes from January 18, 2025. The minutes were sent before the meeting. Hearing no changes, the minutes were approved.

Unfinished Business —

P&T and PTTR forms. Meagan shared the FSRR and relevant sections on student evaluations.  It is a School or department level decision is student evaluations are required.  If student evaluations are required for “initial review”, they are then required at other levels. 

Meagan changed the P&T forms to reflect this. Student evaluations are required if used at the initial review-which makes it a department requirement.

Meagan showed the edits on the four P&T forms.  A discussion followed.

Comments:

• With the Union contracts, lots of things/forms will need to be reviewed.
• There is a proposal tracker on the UAKU site-shared in the chat.

All were in favor of the proposed changes to the Faculty Affairs P&T forms presented by Meagan and shared before the meeting.

There was a discussion on the review and approve process.  The Union contract will not change that.  Does SPPT continue to review P&T updates in the future? 

Comments

• In all, there are about 70 P&T documents. 
• The committee can meet in person and focus on reviewing for a chunk of time. Submission deadlines can be staggered alphabetically.
• SPPT members can come to the March 25 meeting which is about the alignment with the Union tentative agreement.
• Can we update the SPPT P&T Checklist? Yes, this is something the committee can do now but not use it until the Union contract is approved.

Meagan shared the policy revision timeline example from the Office of Faculty Affairs.

Are there concerns around recent KBOR tenure discussions? Faculty Affairs is monitoring. Curriculum is more concerning.

Brittany will notify the School of Engineering that SPPT approved their updates to P&T documents. 

New Business —

The School of Engineering P&T documents were shared. The Conflict-of-Interest section was updated. A discussion followed.  There were no concerns with the updates.  All were in favor of approving the changes to the P&T document submitted from the School of Engineering.
