Minutes from the Nov 1st meeting: approved.

Unfinished Business —

University Senate Library Committee's role regarding the Wheat Law Library

  1. Prof. Christopher L. Steadham will examine the issue raised in the meeting about access to resources at the Wheat Law Library for those not affiliated with the Law School. A response will be submitted to the Committee during Spring 23’.
  2. The committee will invite the Wheat Law Library Director for relevant discussions in future years.
  3. No other major issues were presented that require a change in the existing relationship between the Wheat Law Library and the other libraries, the Dean of Libraries, or the University Senate Library Committee. This response will be communicated to SenEX by the committee chair, as required by the FY2023 charges.

Open-access Initiatives

  1. Committee members thanked the team of librarians who presented the various open-access initiatives. These presentations will inform the committee’s discussion in spring 23’ regarding possible changes in the Open Access Policy for University of Kansas Scholars.
  2. Committee members expressed the importance of informing the KU community of these initiatives. A list of sources is attached in the Annex to this document.
