New Business —

Chris Brown, VP for Faculty Development, had asked that FRPR vote on approving the revised Faculty Workload Policy.  Thus the majority of this meeting was devoted to discussion of the revisions to the Faculty Workload Policy. 

The committee was in favor of the revisions overall but had some concerns about some of the language and phrasing of certain portions of the text. 

Scioli promised to forward the committee’s suggestions to VP Brown and the rest of the ad hoc committee.

The remainder of the meeting was devoted to further discussion of the evolving Excused Absence Policy. 

The general feeling of the committee was of agreement with the spirit of the policy.  There was disagreement, however, with the need to codify what is essentially a recommendation for best practices.  There was also concern that some ambiguous language would need to be changed for the whole committee to feel willing to take another look or vote on it.
