Unfinished Business —

Scioli gave final updates about the Faculty Workload Policy, which had been submitted to KBOR and approved.

Scioli also shared the revised version of the Excused Absence Policy and the news that members of Fac Ex would be revising it in accordance with our comments after the previous meeting.

The remainder of the meeting was devoted to a discussion of whether we wished to draft a resolution that would address recent encroachments upon academic freedom and freedom of expression similar to the template suggested by the African American Policy Forum and shared over email with representatives of faculty governance across the country.

The committee was in favor of drafting a resolution and committed to creating a resolution that went beyond the broad statement on academic freedom made by the COFSP and presented to KBOR in Dec 2020.

The committee vowed to work on this resolution in Spring 2022.
