Standing Charges

  1. Be prepared to respond to SenEx requests for reviews of academic policy issues. (ongoing)
  2. Monitor proposals for academic program restructuring and discontinuance, hold hearings, and follow other procedures in accordance with Article VIII of the University Senate Rules and Regulations. Report issues or recommendations for action to SenEx. (ongoing)
  3. Consider input from Student Senate on desired changes to academic policies, if provided. Reach out to the Student Body President (sbp@ku.edu) and the Graduate Student Body President (senategradpres@ku.edu). (ongoing)

Specific Charges

  1. Consider program discontinuance in light of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and KBOR’s requirements to clean up the course catalog (see FY2023 Final Report).
  2. Evaluate the current process and procedures for Exceptions to University Wide Academic Policies (USRR 2.10.1). Consider the AP&P Committee’s recommendations from FY2020 and consult other universities’ policies. Work with the Office of the University Registrar to create a definitive glossary of terms related to such policies. Look into streamlining the Registrar’s enrollments forms, as well as relevant policies across schools.
  3. Evaluate the impact of the Excused Absences Policy (USRR 2.2) on constituent workload. Explore what education and university resources can be implemented to facilitate the related processes.
