Welcome to the Office of University Governance
The Governance system at the University of Kansas has been described as a "shared" system of governance. The University Senate consists of representatives from three constituent senates: Faculty Senate, Student Senate, and Staff Senate.
The Office of University Governance provides staff support to the presidents of the University Senate and the Faculty Senate and their respective executive committees. This office coordinates and facilitates the passage of amendments to the University Senate Code, the University Senate Rules and Regulations, and the Faculty Senate Rules and Regulations through the governance legislative process until approval by the University or Faculty Senate, Provost and the Chancellor.
The Governance Office serves as the initial point of contact and provides support to the University Judicial Board, the Faculty Rights Board, the University Support Staff Disciplinary Action Hearing Board, the FacEx Appeals Committee, the SenEx Basketball Committee, provides interpretation of governance documents (USRR, CODE and FSRR) as well support for more than fifteen standing Governance committees, boards, and task forces.
